Charming, certainly, but fraught with constraints. Yet, as has been demonstrated time and again, great works often arise from difficult circumstances, and this new seven-track EP is further proof of that. The first track, \"The Watchers,\" opens with an immediately catchy brass melody that grabs you from the very first seconds. The rough-sounding drums and G-Funk-inflected bass give it an irresistible groove, while lush orchestration weaves in and out, creating a soft and soothing atmosphere. \"Blend,\" one of the only two sung tracks on the EP, is a sun-soaked love song, straddling the line between psychedelic rock ballad and B-side soul. \"Twin Kitchen\" immediately sinks you into your seat, propelled by Eric Hagstrom's perfectly placed drumming. \"Home Alone\" is a very personal and deeply resonant tribute from singer Kevin Martin to the moments spent alone, a time that, by today's standards, might be labeled as \"disconnected,\" but was, in reality, much more connected. The guys then let their jazz influences take center stage on \"Lone Traveler.\" The track starts with an unyielding groove, and then the band gradually allows themselves to flow above this rhythm as it evolves. \"Gravity Hill,\" named after a famous Californian curiosity, begins the conclusion of the EP.
