{"product_id":"bobby-matos_my-latin-soul_2025_lba","title":"My Latin Soul","description":"In terms of Latin soul, \"Tema De Alma Latina\" by Bobby Matos And The Combo Conquistadores is undoubtedly one of the heaviest tracks ever recorded. This highly regarded Latin tune has been moving dance floors for years thanks to its infectious and contagious energy and its driving rhythms. Released in 1968, the album \"My Latin Soul\" on Philips Records now benefits from a welcome reissue on Mr Bongo. A pure delight from start to finish, a perfect example of the Nuyorican sound that flourished in New York in the 1960s.From a very young age, Latin-jazz percussionist Bobby Matos, originally from the Bronx, New York, found inspiration from conga masters Mongo Santamaria and Patato Valdez (with whom he took informal lessons backstage) and timbale legends Willie Bobo and Tito Puente. Bobby was drawn to the New York club scene and began playing in the bohemian and vibrant cafes of Greenwich Village, in the beatnik spirit of the 1960s. He later played in a wide variety of venues, from Bronx dance halls to El Barrio afters, as well as the elegance of Carnegie Hall, Central Park concerts, and off-Broadway theaters.Later settling in Los Angeles, Bobby played a significant role in spreading Latin music. He became a source of inspiration for many artists on the jazz dance and acid jazz scene of the 1980s and 1990s, where his recordings were selected and played, becoming prized collector's items for DJs. The track \"Tema De Alma Latina\" was immortalized as a classic for many, after being featured on Gilles Peterson's 1987 compilation Street Sounds Jazz Juice 5.","brand":"Bobby Matos","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57469665608024,"sku":null,"price":23919858.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/5024017006638.jpg?v=1780871866","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/bobby-matos_my-latin-soul_2025_lba","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
