{"product_id":"blackbeard-calling_blackbeard-calling_2021_soc","title":"BLACKBEARD CALLING","description":"Two years after we began collaborating with Jamaican producer Rodguel \"Blackbeard\" Sinclair, we are pleased to present the first compilation dedicated to his rich catalog: Blackbeard Calling! !Often too little known in our latitudes, the honorable Blackbeard, as he is known in Kingston, first set foot in a recording studio in 1968. This was during a session organized at Dynamic Sounds studio, for the recording of Slim Smith's \"Let Me Go Girl\". Brother of the famous DJ Tappa Zukie and protégé of the recently deceased producer Bunny Lee, Blackbeard patiently built his career, until he created his own label, Hulk, in the mid-1970s.To pay tribute to him, we have selected a dozen tracks made in the second half of the 1970s. This was the golden age of Reggae Roots and Dub, and during these five years, he collaborated with some of Jamaica's greatest artists: Horace Andy, Ken Boothe, Johnny Clarke, Black Uhuru, and King Tubby.Some tracks are now classics of the genre, such as Jacob Miller's \"False Rasta\" or The Mighty Diamonds' \"Jah Jah Bless the Dreadlocks\". Others are rarer, such as the combination of Ken Boothe and Trinity, \"Fattie Bum Bum\", or even unreleased!In short, 12 tracks to discover the best of his productions and make you want to dive into his catalog. This, through our recent albums dedicated to King Tubby, Barry Brown, Johnny Clarke, or our upcoming releases that will feature Trinity, Horace Andy, and many others. On these albums, you will find his house band, The Ring Craft Posse, composed of some of Kingston's best musicians such as Sly \u0026 Robbie, Winston Wright, and Ansel Collins.At the beginning of the 1980s, a new chapter began. It was the advent of the first digital productions and Dancehall. Blackbeard then decided to change his identity by trading his label name for \"Mister Tipsy\". We will have the opportunity to tell you this page of his story in a future volume. In the meantime, we give you a little taste, by slipping in an unreleased version of the cult classic \"Police Man\" by Culture.","brand":"BLACKBEARD CALLING","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55312568287576,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3341342162054.jpg?v=1760402028","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/blackbeard-calling_blackbeard-calling_2021_soc","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
