{"product_id":"belcea-quartet_quatuors-a-cordes_2019","title":"Quatuors à cordes","description":"Formed at the Royal College of Music in London in 1994, the Belcea Quartet already has a rich discography, including a complete recording of Beethoven's String Quartets (ALPHA 262). For this new recording, the ensemble has chosen to record three quartets by two emblematic composers of the 20th century, Leos Janácek \u0026 György Ligeti. Fifteen years after their first recording with Zig-Zag and as the composition of the quartet has evolved, they have chosen to record Janácek's two quartets again. The first is inspired by the famous work by Leon Tolstoy, The Kreutzer Sonata: the 4-movement work follows the chronology of the novella, leading up to the final murder. The Second Quartet is nicknamed Intimate Letters, in homage to Kamila Stösslova, with whom the composer had an important correspondence in his later years, which marked his life and work. Finally, Ligeti's First Quartet is subtitled Nocturnal Metamorphoses due to its form: the work is described by the composer as a kind of theme and variations, but without a specific \"theme\" that is then varied. It is rather the same musical concept that appears in constantly new forms - which is why \"metamorphoses\" is more appropriate than \"variations.\"","brand":"Belcea Quartet","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58079096471896,"sku":null,"price":23175488.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3760014194542.jpg?v=1787265539","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/belcea-quartet_quatuors-a-cordes_2019","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
