{"product_id":"barney-wilen_live-in-tokyo-1991_2019","title":"Live In Tokyo 1991","description":"Born in Nice, Barney Wilen's (1937-1996) career took off in 1957 with his collaboration with Miles Davis on the soundtrack of “Ascenseur pour l’échafaud.” In 1959, Wilen composed his two soundtracks: “Un témoin dans la ville” and “Jazz sur scène” with Kenny Clarke. He also wrote an original score for Roger Vadim's film “Les liaisons dangereuses” two years later, in collaboration with Thelonious Monk. Wilen made his first tour in Japan in 1990 and returned the following year for the recording of this concert. He passed away from cancer in Paris at the age of 59. Includes a 20-page booklet with previously unseen color photos from the concert and personal comments from Bruno Pfeiffer, Patrick Wilen, Gilles Naturel, and Olivier Hutman. This magnificent concert was recorded directly from my father's Sony Dat console. Thanks to his foresight and passion for technology, we can now enjoy these moments from nearly 30 years ago at the Keystone Korner in Tokyo. My special thanks to Elemental Music. Patrick Wilen, March 2019. Playing with Barney Wilen was one of the highlights of my jazz pianist career. A big thank you to Elemental Music for releasing this very unexpected recording nearly 30 years after its creation! Olivier Hutman, February 2019. Barney Wilen, in 1991, still amazes us at the Keystone Korner, Tokyo. Listen to him. For pleasure.
