Here, there are no machines or crutches, but a quest for the senses where all artifice shines by its absence. The song \"Des Ronds\" illustrates the work of painter Julie Milou, who designed the album cover. In this mirror play, the pictorial and musical techniques are identical: spinning around oneself like a dervish, endlessly repeating the same circular gesture to reach a form of trance in creation. \"Délicat\" is a love song that draws a parallel between the delicacy of romantic feelings and the virtuosity of the accordion, highlighting the precision of execution and the subtlety of the instrument's touch. \"Il n'y a pas d'amour heureux\" was written by the French poet and novelist Louis Aragon in 1943 and set to music ten years later by the singer, songwriter, and poet Georges Brassens. While this cover remains faithful to the original text, the melody and interpretation differ significantly: the voice is higher, more inhabited, and more fragile, giving this melancholic and moving piece a new resonance. The duo perpetuates the tradition of French chanson while infusing it with a touch of modernity. Épure is a naïve album. Stripped bare, the nerve laid open.
