{"product_id":"angelo-gilardino_musique-sicilienne-pour-guitare_2016","title":"Musique sicilienne pour guitare","description":"Guitarist Angelo Marchese brings together here several works by Italian composer Angelo Gilardino (born in 1941), inspired by the folklore and landscapes of Sicily. Music for solo guitar, guitar enhanced by a harpsichord or a chamber orchestra including string and wind sections. Apart from the concertino Hykkara, the program is new to disc. The five inventions entitled Au pays parfumé (borrowed from Baudelaire) for guitar and harpsichord claim the influence of Ponce and Dogdson. The subtle blend of the timbres of the two instruments works wonderfully, suggesting a beauty so fragile and delicate that it becomes immaterial. The great Sonata Parthenicum combines the solidity of imposed forms (Rondo and Capriccio) and the multiple play of entertainment. The instrument being, above all, always at the service of a free and unconstrained language. The city of Hykkara (located near Palermo) recalls the mythical story of Icarus. The guitar flutters and evolves like the bird (Allegro Solare) soaring over a choral orchestra articulated in “lines and filaments” (Adagio). Then, approaching so dangerously close to the harsh light of the sun; it bursts forth like the peacock’s spray in a crystalline and flamboyant colorful palette (Un poco Mosso). A moment of grace where light merges with sound. The great flexibility of playing of the Italian guitarist Angelo Marchese perfectly serves the fantasy and variegated elegance of Gilardino’s music.
