{"product_id":"ali-farka-toure_green_2024_uni","title":"Green","description":"1988 album from the King of Desert Blues on LP vinyl!In the 1970s, Malian guitarist Ali Farka Touré worked as a sound engineer at Radio Mali and broadcasting his own performances earned him a formidable local reputation. He sent some recordings to the Sonodisc record label in Paris, which led to one of the very first commercial releases of Malian music – a 12” vinyl album entitled Ali Touré ‘Farka’. Between 1975 and 1988, seven albums in total were released, all titled only with variations on the artist's name and with no information other than a photo and the song titles. The last two albums released became known as the ‘Red’ and ‘Green’ albums because of the colours of their original album covers. In the mid-1980s, a few copies of these albums made their way to Anne Hunt of World Circuit Records, which prompted her to travel to Mali and put out an appeal on Radio Mali to find Ali. He was in the capital city Bamako and he heard the broadcast. Thus began Ali’s hugely successful international career and his long relationship with the World Circuit label.Digitally remastered from the original tapes, Ali Farka Touré’s ‘Green’ album features Ali’s acoustic guitar and vocals, both solo and accompanied by calabash and ngoni (a traditional four-string guitar). It is one of many titles in Ali's catalogue that demonstrate his continuing importance to African music. A must-have for fans and collectors.","brand":"Ali Farka Touré","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55396482122072,"sku":null,"price":23988279.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/4050538966046_59e979b5-83cf-408d-ab62-527f11233cd4.jpg?v=1760468761","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en-us\/products\/ali-farka-toure_green_2024_uni","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
