In 1978, he accepted an invitation to join David Bowie's band for the \"Isolar II\" world tour, and later contributed to Bowie's albums \"Stage\" and \"Lodger\".He contributed to Tom Tom Club's first album and began a solo career in 1981, the same year he also joined the reformed King Crimson as second guitarist and singer.
